Women in Tech- DYPA and HUAWEI

Following the needs of the market, the current trends in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the targets set by the EU for the "Digital Decade" by 2030, DYPA is taking initiatives to empower the digital maturity of citizens, in order to support their integration into quality jobs and expand the talent pool for companies that have difficulties in finding suitably skilled employers.

The program, that will be implemented in the near future, will be addressed to 500 unemployed women and will include the thematic modules of "Basic Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills" and "Soft Skills".

Dr. Spiros Protopsaltis, the Governor of DYPA, said: "Two out of three unemployed people are women, and DYPA is constantly investing in new, targeted actions for their reintegration into work. The new phase of the “Women in Tech” program with Huawei is part of this framework. Our aim is to implement programs that empower unemployed women with new skills and prepare them for professional opportunities in specialties that are in high demand in the labor market. "Women in Tech" is set to open up new job prospects for the 500 women who will have the opportunity to upgrade their digital skills and enrich their CVs with knowledge that is sought after by companies in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. DYPA continues to work with technology giants to reduce the digital divide and meet the needs of businesses for appropriately skilled employees."

Ms. Selina Wen, Senior Vice President of Huawei Europe, said: "Huawei has been in Greece for 20 years. With the commitment of “in Greece for Greece”, we continuously contribute value to Greek society. Talent incubation has always been the most important social value project for us. Building on last year successful cooperation with DYPA, we optimized the course design and enhanced the program, and we believe this year’s “Women in Tech” reskilling and upskilling program will encourage women to advance their career and become talented employees. We firmly believe that Huawei’s initiative will inspire more and more women to pursuit their professional goals and achieve success. Together, let’s work to create a brighter future for Greece, where every woman has the opportunity to thrive in the digital age."
